Multiple awards: FH Kufstein Tirol impressed at the Green Event Tirol awards ceremony with numerous award-winning events – including even a Green Event Tirol Star. Sustainability is therefore an integral part of event management on campus.
Great success for the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol at this year's Green Event Tirol awards ceremony in the Kulturbäckerei: Several events organized by the university were honored by the Climate Alliance Tyrol, including a Green Event Tirol Star, the highest recognition within the initiative.
WE FOCUS ON GREEN EVENTS BECAUSE SUSTAINABILITY AND INCLUSION ARE PART OF OUR DAILY PRACTICE.

Event Specialist at the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol
A total of 278 events with around 900 event days were implemented as green events across Tyrol – a new record. 43 selected events were honored in a festive ceremony. The award ceremony itself sent a strong message: the electricity for the presentation was generated by participants who took turns pedaling on bicycles.
Sustainability throughout the entire duration of studies
For the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol, sustainable event management is not a one-off project, but rather a daily practice. Among others, the Open House (Green Event Tirol Star), the graduation ceremony, the 9th Family Business Day, the final of the 7€ Cash@School, the 2nd Colour Run Kufstein, Kufstein24, and the Kufstein Short Film Festival were honored.
Kubi Night and the Kubi Children's Literature Festival, in which the Sports, Culture & Event Management (SKVM) degree program was involved as part of practical projects, were also recognized as green events.
Angela Scalet, BA, coordinator of practical projects in the Sports, Culture & Event Management degree program, emphasizes the importance of sustainable event management as a central component of the program: “Students are encouraged to consistently plan and implement their events as green events as part of their practical projects. In this way, they take on responsibility during their studies and develop an awareness of sustainable standards in the event industry.”
EXCHANGE, INSPIRATION, AND STRONG NETWORKS
Lea Meinhard, MA, Event Specialist at the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol, was also there. For her, the event was not only a cause for celebration, but also provided valuable inspiration:
“We focus on green events because sustainability and inclusion are part of our everyday practice. From open house to graduation, we support students with sustainable events throughout their entire time at university.”
She further emphasizes: “The award has inspired us to come up with new ideas on the topic of sustainability and has given us the opportunity to exchange best practices with other event organizers and get to know sustainable service providers from Tyrol.”
Particularly pleasing: among the award winners were two FH graduates - Michael Simperl (TVB Seefeld) and Lina Schneeweiß (TVB Kufsteinerland) - whose events also received awards.
SUSTAINABILITY AS A QUALITY FEATURE
The award-winning events demonstrate how diverse sustainable implementation can be: from fully digital program communication via QR codes and accessible event concepts to regional catering, reusable systems, and targeted promotion of public transportation.
Stephanie Rauscher, project manager of Green Events Tirol, also emphasized the importance of education during the award ceremony and thanked the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol for its commitment to knowledge transfer and for raising awareness among students and future event organizers.
The strong presence of the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol at the awards ceremony underscores that sustainable event management is not a trend on campus, but rather a quality standard - professionally implemented, widely supported, and firmly anchored in the university culture.
